Polo de Courances
With Courances’ regulation-size Federal polo field (275m x 145m), the training field, and the winter training field – all adjacent to the magnificent park of the Château de Courances – you too can play polo in a friendly and welcoming setting from April to October.
Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned player, the Association de Polo de Courances offers a programme of initiation and training, supervised by a polo professional, and national and international tournaments during the season.
You can hire horses or keep your horses in our livery stables, where we offer a petisero service.
You must be a member of the Association de Polo de Courances and register with the Fédération Française de Polo to obtain a licence.
This provides you with third party insurance cover.
We offer various formulas for lessons and courses, practices and tournaments.
1. Lessons and courses
The polo lessons are supervised by a professional, Nelson Larocca, an Argentinean who has been a professional polo player for more than 20 years. He is available throughout the week for private lessons with his horses. Nelson speaks French, English and Spanish.
Three-day courses with full board are planned for the summer from the Association du Polo de Courances for adults and juniors (aged 10 to 15).
One-day Master Classes by professional players are also planned for adults and juniors later in the season.
Every weekend, practice matches are held on Saturday and Sunday afternoon, refereed by the polo manager. During the school holidays, practices are also held on weekdays.
The Association de Polo de Courances organises friendly inter-club tourAaments, and international tournaments. It is twinned with the Roude Léiw Polo Club association in Luxembourg.
4. Livery stables
You can rent horses from the polo manager, or keep your horses in our livery stables for a set period, or for the season, from the start of April onwards.
