Le Potager de Courances

Certified organic (AB) since 2015, the three-hectare walled vegetable garden is the starting point of a great agro-ecological adventure initiated in 2013.

​

Les Jardins de Courances was established with the aim of producing organic fruit and vegetables for the Farm Shop as well as Paris and the surrounding area, with as many varieties as possible -there are as many as fifteen varieties of tomatoes - often bringing back forgotten ones, and using different soil conservation methods.

Today, the adventure continues outside the walled garden, on the agricultural land between Courances and Fleury-en-Bière.

La Plaine

To the western side of the Forest of Fontainebleau, across nearly 800 hectares of agricultural land, lies what is known as La Plaine; uninterrupted fields, broken only by the A6 motorway.

​

In 2012 the family ​​decided to question their agricultural model and set in motion a transition towards organic farming, using conservation methods to enhance soil quality, and respect the environment.

​

The first turning point came in 2014 with the planting of 1,800 trees in the fields across 70 hectares of agricultural lands, the largest agroforestry project north of the Loire.

​

On the occasion of European heritage day, it will be possible to visit la Plaine through guided visit at 3 p.m on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th September.
