Polo at Courances…
The Association du Polo de Courances represents the renewal of the close links of the château owners – the De Ganay family – with the sport they have played for many years.
In the first half of the 20th century, two De Ganays were presidents of the Polo de Paris. Later in the century, Paul de Ganay was a well-known figure on the international circuit for many years, while in 1989 Jean de Ganay captained the French team at the World Polo Championships in Berlin. More recently Antoine de Ganay has perpetuated the tradition by playing the sport at a high level.
There was clearly a desire to renew the connection with the polo world at Courances. With the support of the Fédération Française de Polo, the terrain d’honneur was officially opened in 2016.
As a spectator or player, you can find out more about the sport during the tournaments – friendly, national and international – that will take place on the terrain d’honneur just next to the park of the Château de Courances.
