“Ateliers d’art du gâtinais” exhibition
The park of the Château de Courances will host an exhibition by the association “Les Ateliers d’art du Gâtinais” on 15 and 16 September.
Founded in 2014, the association has some thirty members, all working within the bounds of the Parc Naturel du Gâtinais, in crafts, restoration and art.
The association showcases highly skilled exponents of arts and crafts including upholstery, stained glass windows, furniture, painting, the restoration of ceramics, violin-making, and engraving.
The nine exhibitors will provide insights into their work throughout the weekend near the Japanese Garden.

At the same time, the travelling photograph exhibition “De mains de Maître”, by Marie-Lys Hagenmüller, will be set up along the Sous-Bois path behind the Foulerie. The display is organised in partnership with the Parc Naturel Régional du Gâtinais.
The event will end with a classical concert by Masayuki Wakamatsu (solo violin) on Sunday at 5.30 p.m.

Explore for yourself a Renaissance water garden that is one of the best conserved examples in France, and visit its 14 springs and 17 ponds.
guided tours of the château
Discover a Louis XIII château that is also a fully furnished home, on a guided tour enlivened with historical insights and family anecdotes.
Duration: 50 minutes
We do not take advance reservations. Your name will be registered when you arrive at the ticket office. It is best to arrive early in the day. If there are large numbers of visitors, we cannot guarantee you will be able to take the guided tour as soon as you arrive. Furthermore, if numbers are extremely high, it may not be possible to take the château tour, as the maximum size of groups is 30 people.

Note: Free admission for the Journées du Patrimoine is not a hard and fast rule. Private owners – as at Courances – set the conditions of visits. It is your entrance fees that enable you to enjoy one of the most beautiful parks in the Ile de France!
Guided tour of the potager of the château and its produce
For this special weekend, Courances is opening its Potager to the general public for guided tours. Our gardeners will explain the inside story of this 7-acre garden, certified as organic (AB) since 2013.
The 90-minute guided tour will begin at 3 p.m. on Sunday. The gardeners will meet you at farm shop. There is no extra charge in addition to the entrance fee.
Farm shop opening hours
For this weekend only, the farm shop will be open on Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., and also on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The farm shop is at the end of the Rue du Moulin, below the Village Hall (Mairie). Entry is also possible from the park.
Catering
A food truck will be set up in the park for the lunch break.
As usual, the tea room in the Foulerie will welcome you with a range of sweet pastries and drinks.
At the entrance, a pancake and confectionery stall will be run by the association of Student Nurses of Étampes. All proceeds will help to fund a humanitarian mission to Benin.
